These ladoos are apt for any festival , be it Rakshabandhan or Diwali as any Indian festival is incomplete without homemade sweets. Rakshabandhan on 3rd August 2020 is only few days away , I am sure your preparations must be in full swing. Be what, there's one thing for sure ; greeting loved ones, guests , friends with homemade sweets brings moments filled with joy and pleasure. Let's celebrate this festival in high spirits , spreading love and joy all around. These ladoos make a wonderful dessert at home. You can also gift these ladoos to guests and relatives who come in. The best thing is that these ladoos have good shelf life and hence make a great travel food too.


All you need to make these delicious ladoos is oats, dates , dry fruits, desiccated coconut and flavours that suit to your palate. YES, you do not need any refined sugar for this recipe. It is a perfect no sugar recipe to satiate your sugar cravings any time , any day. It is healthier option for weight watchers as it is made up with ingredients rich in fiber and iron. Dry fruits make these ladoos more delicious. Ghee and honey add flavour and also helps in binding the ladoos. I also add cinnamon and elachi as it pairs well with dates. Always roast the nuts before adding to the ladoos as roasting enhances the aroma and taste of the nuts.

Ingredients

  • 1 Cup oats(Quaker white, quick cooking)

  • 1 Cup dates pitted(20 -22 in nos.)

  • 1/4 Cup desiccated coconut

  • 1/3 Cup roasted ,chopped mixed nuts

  • 1 Tbsp sesame seeds(slightly roasted)

  • 1/4 Tsp cardamom powder

  • 1 Tbsp + 2 Tbsp ghee

  • 2 Tbsp honey

  • 1/4 Tsp cinnamon powder

Instructions

  1. Dry roast the oats in microwave for 1 minute and 30 seconds , stirring after every 30 seconds. Take out the oats and let it cool down to room temperature. Grind the oats along with cinnamon powder to not very fine powder. Keep it aside to use it later.




2. Wash , pat dry, de seed the dates. Heat 1 Tbsp of ghee in pan and roast the dates till it becomes soft and mushy. This may take around 2 minutes on medium flame. Switch off the flame and keep it aside.





3. Roast nuts of your choice like almond, cashew, pistachio , walnut and sesame seeds. To the roasted and chopped nuts add roasted sesame seeds also. Also keep ready desiccated coconut in a bowl.




4. To the pan in which dates were roasted add oats powder, mixed nuts, desiccated coconut and elachi powder. Do not swich on the flame. Mix all thoroughly. If the mixture is too dry you can add 2 Tbsp of warm ghee and 2 Tbsp of honey to bring all together. Roll out the ladoos firm and round. Once done roll out ladoos in a plate full of desiccated coconut so that it sticks on the ladoos and gives a nice texture.




5. Serve and enjoy the ladoos in breakfast or as a dessert after meals.
